Police raid St. Pauli bar, arrest one after 30 checks in Hamburg
The operation follows the September shootings that killed two men.
Hamburg police raided a bar in St. Pauli and arrested one person after checking 30 visitors on Thursday evening.
Police said an arrest warrant for bodily injury was behind the detention. Officers also used the operation to gather evidence about people involved in recent violence and their contacts.
The raid involved units from the State Criminal Police Office and the riot police. It took place at the Große Freiheit in St. Pauli.
The background is a deadly shooting on 1 September on a commercial yard near the Hamburg fairground halls, close to Lagerstraße. Two men, aged 33 and 47, were killed by shots, and a 48-year-old was seriously injured. Investigators believe the shooters and victims knew each other.
The investigation continues as police pursue those responsible for the shootings.
