A major fire destroyed much of Kehlsteinhaus, known as Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest, the former mountaintop residence of Adolf Hitler in Germany’s Bavarian Alps, police said. The blaze broke out at night on Saturday. Authorities detained the husband of a suspect in connection with the arson, Seznam reported. Police later held the man they suspected of setting the leader’s house on fire. Kehlsteinhaus, also called the Eagle’s Nest, is a former Nazi leader’s retreat located in the Bavarian Alps. After the overnight fire left large parts ruined, investigators moved in and made an arrest linked to the suspected arson.
