Police raided an illegal, high-tech cigarette factory near Karnobat and seized 12 tonnes of production, authorities said at a briefing in Burgas. During the operation, investigators also found five masterboxes containing cigarettes made from well-known brands. The information came in at the start of the month, and the factory was located in Karnobat on the evening of 18.00 hours on the day before the briefing. Prosecutor Maria Markova, administrative head of the Burgas District Prosecutor’s Office, said the technological process of manufacturing and the construction of an additional room suggest the operation had been running for a significant period. One person was detained. The suspect is a 58-year-old man from Karnobat. The case was carried out with the involvement of the Ministry of Interior, the General Directorate Border Police, and the Border Police, together with the prosecution.
