Police in Imola have arrested a 41-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman accused of posing as doctors and stealing a luxury bag from an 82-year-old woman at home. The alleged scam unfolded in the Campanella area after residents reported repeated attempts to defraud older people. Officers carried out checks, spotted a car already linked to the suspected frauds, and followed the pair as they moved between houses. According to investigators, the suspects approached the pensioner near a pharmacy, claiming they were opening a new clinic in the city. The man presented himself as a doctor and convinced the 82-year-old to let them into her home. Once inside, the duo allegedly took advantage of a moment when the victim was distracted and stole a Gucci handbag worth about 1,500 euro from a bedroom wardrobe. They then tried to leave quickly. Carabinieri intervened as the suspects attempted to get away on foot from the property. The bag was recovered and returned to the owner. Both suspects were arrested in flagrante for aggravated theft in a home, committed in concert. They were handed over to the public prosecutor in Bologna and held in custody while waiting for the direct court hearing.
