International drug trafficking network halted with seven arrests
Eurojust coordinated judicial cooperation as the network’s shipments worth an estimated EUR25 million were intercepted.
An international drug trafficking network has been halted after coordinated action across Europe led to the interception of drug shipments with an estimated market value of EUR25 million, Eurojust said.
According to Eurojust, the investigation identified a criminal network that provided drug transport services to other criminal groups, describing the arrangement as “crime as a service.”
Eurojust coordinated judicial cooperation during parts of the case. An action day in Romania resulted in the arrest of seven suspected members of the network.
The suspects were arrested as part of the investigation process, and arrests do not indicate guilt.
The announcement follows cross-border cooperation aimed at disrupting a trafficking operation that organised the movement of drugs across Europe and supported other groups through transport services.
