Interpol coordinated raids across 17 countries to disrupt online child abuse networks, police said, leading to 95 arrests and the rescue of a child in Colombia. The operation ran through four parallel investigations between March and September 2026, with investigators targeting different parts of how child sexual abuse material was produced and distributed. A total of 127 search warrants were executed, and messaging apps and cryptocurrencies were used across the network. Authorities in Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Spain uncovered activity in online messaging groups where suspects allegedly requested and distributed CSAM. In Ecuador, a man was arrested after devices seized from him contained more than 4,000 files involving child abuse material, totalling 15GB. In Panama, investigators arrested the administrator of a group distributing abusive material, which had more than 700 users. In Argentina, a suspect accused of sextortion was arrested over alleged contact with more than 260 girls from different countries. Interpol says more suspects are expected to be identified from the seized devices. The participating countries were Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Spain and Uruguay. Investigators say the hunt is ongoing. Source: Cybernews
