Police in Istanbul arrested 8 people after they allegedly followed police vehicles during a hospital transfer. The arrests came during an operation targeting organized crime groups in Istanbul. Officers noticed a group tracking the police buses carrying detained suspects for medical checks. Police teams immediately informed the Organize Crime Unit. They then moved to the bus route and detained 8 people in a short time. Investigators said the group was believed to be trying to support the people already in custody by trailing police vehicles. The wider Istanbul operation covered multiple districts, and the total number of suspects taken into custody reached 178. Police procedures for the new suspects have been completed, and they were sent to the prosecutor’s office.
