Police in Kahramanmaraş arrested a man accused of taking his mother hostage with a knife after a tense standoff at a home in Onikişubat. The alleged incident happened in the Yusuflar Mahallesi area on the night described in the report. Police said A.D. demanded money from his mother, N.D., and after she refused, an argument broke out, during which he allegedly used a knife to hold her hostage. Neighbours heard help cries coming from the house and alerted police. Officers were dispatched to the address. During the intervention, N.D. managed to get out of the house. The next phase turned into a roof standoff, after which A.D. climbed up and said he would jump down. Police spent about two hours trying to persuade him to come down. When the suspect did not respond, special operations officers were called. After the special unit arrived, A.D. threw the knife down and was then arrested at the scene. A.D. was taken for a health check before being transferred to the police station. N.D. reportedly also lodged a complaint, while police said the case involves an alleged money demand and the hostage-taking claim. The suspect is in custody as police continue processing the case.
