Katowice police investigating economic crime have finished a months-long probe into an organised fraud group that allegedly targeted victims with fake “legend” stories. Police say the suspects posed as bank employees and also as fake police officers, convincing people their money was at risk. Evidence gathered during the investigation led to an indictment against five people accused of involvement in the alleged scheme. Officers described the operation as a coordinated scam using different fraud methods built around the same core pitch. The case was handled by Katowice police units focused on economic crime. With the investigation complete, prosecutors moved forward and filed charges against the five accused. The case status is now tied to the filed indictment, with court proceedings pending.
