A knife attack at a nursing home in Olfen, western Germany, killed an 86-year-old woman, police said. The attack happened on Friday evening at the St. Vitus-Stift facility. An 86-year-old died at the scene, while two other residents, aged 81 and 83, suffered serious injuries. A previously critical 81-year-old later stabilized, authorities said. Police arrested the suspected attacker, a 72-year-old man who also lived in the home. He did not resist when taken into custody. Prosecutors said an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect. He faces charges of killing, attempted killing, and causing grievous bodily harm. Authorities expected the man to be held in a prison hospital. Police said the man attacked the women with a knife in the home’s dining area, before police and rescue services arrived. Two medical helicopters landed outside the building as the incident was investigated by a dedicated police team. The police did not give immediate details about a motive or any relationship between the suspect and the victims. Media reported that the suspect said he felt harassed and wanted revenge on other residents.
