Police detained a suspected drunk driver in Kropyvnytskyi after a passer-by spotted him behind the wheel of a Land Rover at around midnight and called 102. Patrol officers received a description of the car and quickly identified its route. They stopped the vehicle on Prospekt Vynnychenka, where the driver showed clear signs of intoxication and admitted he had been drinking before driving. A Drager test found 2.38 promille of alcohol in the driver’s blood, about twelve times higher than the permitted level. Officers drew up administrative materials under part 1 of Article 130 of Ukraine’s Code of Administrative Offences (KUPAP) and suspended him from driving. The case has been sent to court. If found liable, the driver faces a fine of 17,000 hryvnias and a one-year driving ban.
