Leicester woman Gemma Baker jailed for child sexual abuse
The victim contacted police in 2021 after abuse carried on from 1999 to 2003.
A woman, Gemma Baker, has been jailed for sexual abuse of a girl that began when the victim was six.
Leicestershire Police said the abuse started in 1999 and continued until 2003. The victim, now an adult, contacted police in 2021.
Police said Baker was careful to carry out the abuse when they were alone together.
Baker denied 10 counts of indecency with a child. She was found guilty following a trial on Thursday and sentenced to six years in prison at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
She was placed on the sex offenders register for life and made subject to a restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.
Detective Inspector Ash McPhillips said the victim felt relief that Baker was behind bars more than 25 years after the abuse began.
