A 27-year-old man serving a sentence outside prison under electronic monitoring has been remanded after drugs were found at a Limassol flat. More than 1 kilogramme of cannabis was recovered, along with cocaine and cannabis resin, after Drug Law Enforcement Unit officers searched the home the man shared with a 20-year-old woman. Investigators say officers from YKAN and the Crime Prevention Unit secured a court warrant, then searched the Limassol flat where the suspects live. During the search, police initially found about 2 grammes of cannabis and a precision scale. They later discovered a fabric bag hidden under a bed containing nine packages of cannabis with a total gross weight of 1.137 kilogrammes. The bag also held two packages of cocaine weighing 50 grammes in total and one package of cannabis resin weighing 95 grammes. Police seized mobile phones and 2,870 euros in cash as evidence. The 27-year-old had been convicted over a fatal road crash on New Year’s Day 2023 on the Kolossi road, and is currently serving his sentence outside prison under electronic monitoring. The pair appeared before Limassol District Court after their arrest on suspicion of offences including illegal possession of drugs, possession with intent to supply and money laundering. The court granted prosecutors’ request to remand both suspects for six days while written statements are due and inquiries continue into the drugs’ origin and the identity of their supplier.
