Three arrested in the Netherlands over Luxembourg ATM explosions
Arrests follow two cash machine attacks in Eischen and Vianden.
Three people have been arrested in the Netherlands in connection with ATM explosions in Luxembourg, after close cooperation between the two countries' judicial authorities.
The arrests came last Wednesday as investigators looked into two attacks on cash machines in Luxembourg. One happened in Eischen on 20 May 2026. The other hit Vianden on 28 July 2026. In both cases, the perpetrators were unable to steal money.
Luxembourg judicial police, in the organized crime department, worked closely with colleagues in the Netherlands, prosecutors said. Officers carried out searches and interviewed the suspects as part of the investigation.
The public prosecutor's office said the operation showed the effectiveness of international judicial and police cooperation in tackling cross-border organised crime.
It was not stated whether the suspects will be extradited to Luxembourg. The investigation continued after the arrests.
