Police arrest two suspected money mules in LuxTrust scam cases
One arrest followed a LuxTrust phishing complaint, and another led to a seizure of hashish.
Police have arrested two suspected money mules in separate LuxTrust scam cases, alleging they allowed their bank accounts to be used for money laundering.
Authorities moved in after LuxTrust-related reports, with one case linked to a complaint about a LuxTrust scam. The woman suspected of allowing her bank account to launder stolen money was identified and arrested on Friday, after prosecutors ordered a search of her home.
A second report arrived on 24 September 2026, when police received another complaint of LuxTrust phishing. Police searched the home of a man suspected of acting as a money mule in connection with that case on Friday, seizing 85 grams of hashish.
During the search, police also gathered circumstantial evidence suggesting the man was involved in drug sales. He was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office in Diekirch.
Police said providing a bank account for money laundering purposes can carry a prison term of up to five years and a fine of up to €1,250,000.
Both suspects were arrested and appeared before the examining magistrate as their cases moved forward.
