A 20-year-old man was arrested after an e-bike rider failed to stop for police and narrowly missed a pedestrian in Harrogate.
Officers were patrolling York Place at around 10.15pm on Sunday, 11 October, when they spotted the rider wearing a balaclava heading onto the Empress roundabout towards Knaresborough Road.
Police said the rider had failed to stop for officers minutes earlier. When blue lights were activated, the rider allegedly failed to stop again, travelled down Granby Road and joined the footpath, narrowly missing a pedestrian.
The rider then headed across The Stray next to Skipton Road, with officers continuing the pursuit off-road. He later turned onto Claro Road and then Ainsty Road, where he attempted to mount a kerb but lost control and fell from the bike. No injuries were reported.
The 20-year-old from the Harrogate area was detained and arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving without insurance. Police also found cannabis during a search, leading to a further arrest on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
He remained in custody at the time of the police update as the investigation continued.
