Police arrested a man after receiving multiple reports of suspected drone flights over the Eemshaven area, a zone where drone flying is banned. The arrest happened last Tuesday. The man lives in Belgium, police confirmed. His age or nationality was not disclosed. Drone flights are prohibited over Eemshaven because the area includes vital infrastructure and a permanent Defence establishment. A lot of equipment from NATO partners is also transferred in the port. The man has since returned to Belgium, but remains under suspicion. Police did not say what, exactly, he is suspected of. RTV Noord reported that other suspicious drone sightings were also recorded in Groningen province, including near a chemical park at Farmsum and a solar park in Scheemda. Police said they do not believe there is a link and that no one has been arrested in those cases yet.
