A 46-year-old man suspected of threatening his neighbour in Šabac was arrested after he allegedly assaulted her in a shared residential building. Prosecutors say the suspect targeted the woman over two days, 17 and 18 October 2026. He allegedly told her he would “pour a bullet into her head” and “slaughter” her, while banging loudly on the wall between their apartments. When he later saw her in the building hallway, he allegedly physically attacked her and continued threatening her. Prosecutor in the Basic Public Prosecution Office in Šabac questioned the man. After the hearing, prosecutors asked the Basic Court in Šabac to order pre-trial detention. The request cited concerns that leaving him free for a short time could lead him to repeat the criminal act. Prosecutors also pointed to the risk that he could influence the victim’s testimony because both live in the same building. The case is ongoing, with prosecutors set to carry out the necessary investigative steps to establish the exact and complete facts before deciding on further action.
