Man arrested in Brent after NCA probes TikTok adverts for illegal crossings
Police seized a mobile phone after a TikTok account advertised routes to multiple European countries.
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Brent, north west London, as part of an NCA investigation into online advertising of illegal immigration services.
Officers detained the Afghan national at an address in Brent on Tuesday 3 November and seized a mobile phone.
The investigation followed the discovery of a TikTok account advertising illegal crossings from the UK to Europe, including France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany.
The activity was linked to measures in Section 17 of the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act 2025, which came into force in February 2026.
The suspect has been bailed pending further enquiries. NCA Senior Investigating Officer Martin Matthews said the agency is targeting networks using online platforms to advertise suspected illegal crossings.
The NCA investigation is ongoing, with the man on bail while enquiries continue.
