A 48-year-old man has been charged with stabbing deaths of his parents and their dog in Westminster. Benjamin Thai Hoang of Westminster faces two counts of murder with a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, along with a felony count of cruelty to animals, according to the complaint. Police were sent to the victims’ home in the 13500 block of Sutter Drive at 5:52 p.m. Monday after a caller reported that someone had been killed. When officers arrived, Hoang had blood on his hands, police said. The victims were 74-year-old Quy Thi Nguyen and 80-year-old Dieu Van Hoang. They appeared to have been stabbed multiple times and were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the dog was also apparently stabbed to death. Hoang’s arraignment scheduled for Wednesday was rescheduled for Thursday so his attorney could speak with him first. Hoang remains charged and awaiting arraignment after the rescheduling.
