A man has been extradited from Poland to Australia over an alleged murder linked to a drug supply in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire. Homicide Squad detectives travelled overseas to take a 26-year-old man back to face accusations connected to the 2023 death of Darcy Schafer-Turner, a 22-year-old man from Sutherland Shire. Police allege Schafer-Turner was murdered in a unit at Peakhurst in 2023 before his body was placed in a metal cabinet and dumped in a creek on the mid-north coast of NSW. Investigations began in March 2023 after police looked into an alleged drug supply in the Caringbah area, which led to inquiries into the disappearance of the 22-year-old. On 12 May 2023, strike force detectives searched Warrell Creek at Macksville, where they found the body concealed inside a large metal cabinet. As the case developed, two men aged 22 and 33 were charged over the alleged murder, and those court matters have since been finalised. Detectives then identified the 26-year-old man, who was residing in Poland. With help from Polish authorities and national law enforcement partners, detectives secured his arrest in Poland. They travelled to Poland on Sunday 18 September 2026 to arrest him, then escorted him back to Australia. He arrived at Sydney International Airport in Mascot about 6pm on Friday 23 October. The man’s extradition has completed and he has been brought back to Australia, with the case continuing through the justice process.
