A man has been extradited from Poland to Australia and charged over the fatal assault of Sydney tradesman Darcy Schafer-Turner. The 26-year-old arrived in Sydney on Friday after NSW police travelled to Poland to secure the extradition, and was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with murder. Schafer-Turner, 22, was allegedly lured to a unit, put in a chokehold, tied up and pinned down in April 2023, before he suffocated on his own vomit, a court previously found. Police said Schafer-Turner’s body was then stuffed into a metal box, driven to Macksville on the NSW mid-north coast and dumped in a creek. Two other men have already been sentenced over the same incident. Zachary Richard Fraser, 22 at the time, was jailed for six-and-a-half years for manslaughter in October 2025. Police allege Fraser and another man believed Schafer-Turner owed a drug debt of $50,000. They planned to lure him with the promise of cocaine for him to sell. Charles Dennis Turnbull later joined them after being contacted. He allegedly flew to Sydney, met Fraser and helped buy a large metal cabinet from Bunnings. Turnbull pleaded guilty to being an accessory to manslaughter and was sentenced to a maximum of three years and three months’ jail in December 2024. NSW homicide detectives said their inquiries, including links to the hunt for Schafer-Turner, led them to Warrell Creek in Macksville, where they found the large metal cabinet. The 26-year-old remains charged after his extradition and court process continues.
