Man jailed for stealing bike from South Cumbrian school
Stanley Perry received an 18-week jail term and a two-year conduct order.
A 34-year-old man has been jailed for 18 weeks after stealing a bike from a school in Kendal, South Cumbria.
Stanley Perry, of Widnes in Cheshire, was arrested on September 24 after police identified him as a suspect in the June theft at a school in Kendal. Officers said he used tools to remove security locks and used the rail network to take the bike out of the county.
While Perry was in custody at Kendal police station, officers identified that the jacket he was wearing was also stolen property. Checks showed it had been taken from an international visitor at Coral Island Amusement Centre in Blackpool on September 3, and CCTV captured the jacket theft.
Perry was also arrested after an attempted theft of items from Lidl in Kendal on September 24. He appeared in court via videolink and pleaded guilty to all charges.
Police said they sought a criminal behaviour order to reduce his ability to commit similar offences and limit his travel to Kendal. The order was granted for two years, banning Perry from entering Kendal or Oxenholme.
The order also requires Perry to not have tools in his possession outside his home address, and to have written proof of ownership for any bike he has in his possession.
