Marseilles street protest turns into a battle after a loud blast
The disturbance erupted near the Arc de Triomphe area, after stores were already opening.
A street demonstration in Marseilles tied to “yellow vest” posters turned into a battle-like scene after a loud blast echoed from the Arc de Triomphe side.
The day started calmly. By Saturday at 9 a.m., vendors set up at the market and bakeries and craft workshops prepared for customers, including on busy Cours Bayard, where protest marches usually pass.
Minutes later, the calm broke. From near the Arc de Triomphe, protesters heard a loud “blast” sound described as similar to an explosion, marking the sudden shift from normal street activity to violence.
TVNET reports on footage and observations from Marseilles, documenting how quickly the protest atmosphere escalated in the city streets.
