Masked robber binds Slovak senior, steals jewellery and €50
Police have detained a 40-year-old and charged him with several offences.
A masked attacker allegedly bound and assaulted a Slovak senior in her home, then stole her jewellery and cash.
Police in Rožňava say the 40-year-old man broke into the woman’s family house in the district, wearing dark clothing with a hood and a face covered with fabric. The suspect struck her around the head, wrestled with her, and pinned her to the ground. He allegedly covered the victim’s eyes and mouth with adhesive tape and tied her hands behind her back.
The attacker reportedly targeted her valuables and money. He allegedly took earrings, wristwatch and various pieces of gold jewellery, and also took 50 euros from her wallet. Police said the robbery was interrupted when the victim’s mobile phone rang.
A neighbour later found the injured woman at home because she did not show up at the agreed place. The victim suffered injuries that, according to police, will require more than seven days of treatment.
Investigators began working on the case with Rožňava criminal police and other units. Police then identified and detained the suspect, gathering evidence that pointed to a planned attempt to obtain the victim’s money and valuables.
The man has been charged with robbery in a single-incident concurrence with offences including restricting personal liberty, violating the inviolability of a residence, and causing bodily harm. He faces a prison sentence of seven to 12 years if convicted. A motion for his pre-trial detention was prepared.
The case remains in the investigation stage, with the accused held after police charged him and moved to seek pre-trial detention, as reported by TASR via KRPZ Košice spokeswoman Lenka Ivanová.
