The Metropolitan Police is investigating an alleged rape in 2016 inside the UK parliament involving a 63-year-old man, according to police. The Met said it received the allegation on Tuesday 13 October from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, after a woman was interviewed by PSNI officers over the claim. Police confirmed the allegation relates to one victim and is being supported by specialist officers. The incident is alleged to have taken place in London, so the case was referred to the Met. The man at the centre of the investigation is Jeffrey Donaldson, the former leader of Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party, who was sentenced last week to 15 years in prison for child sex offences. Donaldson resigned as party leader in March 2024 when police charged him with rape and other historical sexual offences. He was convicted of 18 offenses in July. The Met investigation is ongoing, with specialist officers supporting the victim.
