Carabinieri arrest man in Montelepre over hashish doses for sale
Police found 20 doses hidden in a bedroom, and the arrest was validated with home detention.
Carabinieri arrested a 38-year-old in Montelepre after catching him in flagrante during a drug handover in connection with alleged drug dealing.
The operation was carried out with support from personnel of the Operational Section of the Partinico Company and the Camporeale Station during a territory control service aimed at countering drug trafficking. Officers observed unusual movements at the suspect’s home before witnessing the handover to a 27-year-old, who was later reported to the Prefecture of Palermo as an alleged regular buyer.
A search of the man’s apartment produced hashish. Inside the home, officers found further 20 doses in the bedroom, hidden in a bedside cabinet and concealed in a cloth handkerchief, ready to be sold in the street drug market.
The Judicial Police brought the case before the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Palermo Tribunal, who validated the arrest and applied the measure of house arrest.
The 38-year-old is currently only accused or otherwise investigated for the offence, and the court will assess his position during the process, which will be defined only after any final conviction.
