Berane arrests suspects over offensive poster campaign against Democrats
Democratic Montenegro demands investigators identify who designed and financed the posters.
Three men, including two from Montenegro and a Serbian citizen, were detained in Berane tonight on suspicion of interfering in the electoral process during voting for early parliamentary elections in Serbia, Democratic Montenegro said.
Democrats said lists of names and propaganda material were found in the suspects' possession.
In a statement, Democratic Montenegro said it is not enough to determine who put up and distributed the offensive posters against party officials. The party urged authorities to identify who designed the posters, who printed them, who organized the campaign, and who financed it.
The arrest came after the party said it has faced years of what it described as political discredit attempts, including insults and campaigns targeting family members.
Democratic Montenegro called for any possible links between the alleged campaign organizers and political, criminal, or intelligence structures to be investigated, and said the public should be informed if such connections are established.
As of now, the suspects are detained, with the investigation into the poster campaign’s organizers and financiers ongoing.
