A Montreal organised crime figure known by the aliases Tupac and Kim Jong-Un is seeking bail in a murder plot tied to Ryan Wedding, accused of helping set up the assassination of an FBI informant. Atna Ohna is due in Quebec Superior Court in Montreal for a two-day extradition hearing, starting Wednesday. U.S. prosecutors want him sent to Los Angeles to face conspiracy charges connected to murder, drug trafficking and witness tampering. Court documents describe Ohna as a hitman for Wedding’s purported drug-smuggling network. Prosecutors say Ohna made multiple efforts to find Jonathan Acebedo-Garcia, identified as the target of the plot and a former FBI witness. One attempt involved enlisting the help of an acquaintance and telling her Wedding would pay for “Brazilian butt lift” and breast augmentation surgery. Ohna was then allegedly given $150,000 cash, along with 30 kilograms of cocaine and a bejewelled red necklace, for his role in tracking down the victim. Acebedo-Garcia was shot in the head while having lunch in Medellin, Colombia, in January 2025. A U.S. grand jury later indicted Wedding, Ohna and others, including a self-described “cocaine lawyer,” a crime blogger and an escort service operator, over their purported roles in orchestrating the killing. Ohna has been in custody in Quebec since his arrest last November, after an FBI-led takedown targeting Wedding and his allies. The extradition case includes a summary of evidence shown in Quebec Superior Court. In that material, prosecutors say the man known as Tupac worked for Wedding before. Documents also suggest a cooperating witness is expected to testify that Ohna killed a rival gang member in November 2023 on Wedding’s behalf, with neither defendant charged for that alleged killing. Minh Tri Truong, a former Montreal police commander, told Radio-Canada that Ohna had been the target of assassination plots, saying he had been warned multiple times. A separate Quebec Superior Court matter showed surveillance footage of Ohna meeting in a Laval park in May 2020 with four men police identified as high-ranking organised crime figures, including Hells Angels members. Ohna’s lawyer, Danièle Roy, did not respond to requests for comment on the allegations. Wedding has pleaded not guilty and is set to stand trial next year, while Ohna remains in custody pending the current hearing.
