New Forest man Christopher Mills jailed for £88,737 money laundering
Bournemouth Crown Court also sentenced Shane Chapman to £152,378 laundering.
A New Forest man has been jailed for money laundering after Dorset Police’s Serious Organised Crime Team investigated suspected criminal proceeds.
Christopher James Mills, 37, of Ringwood, appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court along with co-defendant Shane David Manny Chapman, 36, of Verwood.
Both men were arrested in February 2024 on suspicion of money laundering. They were later charged and pleaded guilty.
Mills was sentenced to two years and 10 months in prison for laundering £88,737 derived from criminal property between January 2022 and February 2024.
Chapman received three years and four months for laundering £152,378 derived from criminal property over the same period.
The court also made Serious Crime Prevention Orders (SCPOs) against both defendants. The orders take effect when they are released from custody and are designed to restrict and disrupt future criminal activity.
Dorset Police said money laundering helps disguise the origins of criminal funds and remains a serious offence. It is continuing to target those who handle criminal property.
Mills and Chapman have been sentenced and are serving custodial terms following their guilty pleas at Bournemouth Crown Court.
