Police say the 38-year-old tested above the legal alcohol limit after the collision.
A 38-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia after he allegedly hit two 24-year-old women with his vehicle in a parking area, injuring them.
Police said the incident happened shortly after 2am, when the driver was moving in reverse at the parking lot. The two women were struck while walking in the area.
The injured women were taken to the General Hospital of Nicosia for first aid and were released after treatment.
Officers found the suspect at the scene. He allegedly shouted and caused concern, then pushed a police officer while trying to flee, leading to his arrest for offences committed on the spot.
During his transfer to the Central Police Station, the 38-year-old allegedly struck the doors of the police vehicle with his hands and feet, causing injuries to himself. He was taken to hospital for first aid and released.
Police say he was arrested to help investigations into causing a road collision, obstructing a police officer during the execution of duties, resisting arrest and malicious damage to a service vehicle.
An alcohol test showed a final reading of 53 micrograms, compared with the legal limit of 22 micrograms. Investigations are continuing with the Traffic Police.
