Police raided a shop in Ravensthorpe and seized 59 nitrous oxide canisters along with illegal vapes and other drugs. Officers forced entry using a warrant and searched the premises on Huddersfield Road in Dewsbury on Wednesday morning as part of an investigation into the supply of illegal drugs in the area. Police said the items recovered during the raid included six boxes of suspected steroids, illegal cigarettes and vapes. They estimated the street value at £2,000, with nitrous oxide accounting for more than £1,000. Insp Amanda Holroyd of Kirklees Police said the illegal supply of drugs and the violence it often brings is a blight on communities and tackling the offending is a priority in Ravensthorpe. West Yorkshire Police said abuse of nitrous oxide has been linked to suffocation through lack of oxygen, nerve and heart damage, mental health abuse, and contributing to road deaths. The force said the warrant led to the seizure of significant amounts of nitrous oxide and suspected steroids. Anyone with information about drug crime in the area was asked to report it to West Yorkshire Police. The investigation is ongoing.
