A 59-year-old man was detained in Odemira after GNR police seized three weapons during an investigation into alleged domestic violence. The arrest took place on 2 November in the municipality of Odemira. GNR said the inquiry had been under way for around a month. Police claimed the suspect threatened the victim with death, while also subjecting them to psychological violence and physical assaults. The operation was carried out by the GNR’s NIAVE unit in Beja. Investigators obtained a detention order outside flagrante delicto and a search warrant for a home. During the search, officers seized a carbine, a compressed-air gun and an alarm weapon. The detainee will be brought before the Judicial Court of Odemira for a first judicial interview and for the application of precautionary measures.
