Police in Ourense have detained four people accused of stealing and selling jewellery worth more than 24,000 euros. The main suspect is a domestic worker who allegedly took jewellery from the home of a neighbour and carried out at least eight sales, taking in more than 6,000 euros. Investigators from the UDEV unit of the Provincial Police Station in Ourense launched the case after the victim reported that several pieces had disappeared from her home. Police then widened the investigation to the suspect’s close circle. Three family members were accused of selling stolen jewellery in gold buying and selling shops in the city. The alleged sales took place between January and June 2026 and are said to have brought in more than 18,000 euros. The three relatives face charges of handling stolen goods, while the main suspect faces a theft charge. After the arrests and the completion of police procedures, the four were brought before a judge at the Section of Instruction of the Court of First Instance on duty. The case remains under judicial processing as the investigation continues.
