Oyo State Police rescued a one-month-old baby girl allegedly sold for ₦2 million, arresting the child’s mother and the owner of the health centre where she was delivered. Police said the case came to light after the baby’s grandmother, Mary Amos, reported the child missing. The report was made on October 15, 2026, around 6pm, at Ido Local Government Area in Ibadan, Oyo State. Mary Amos told officers that her daughter, Cecilia Amos, gave birth to the baby girl on September 6, 2026, at Ebepraise Health Centre. She said Cecilia disappeared with the baby about seven days after delivery and could not give a satisfactory explanation for the child’s whereabouts. Suspicion grew that the baby may have been sold, leading police to investigate and arrest Cecilia Amos for questioning. During interrogation, police said she confessed that Dr. Adeleke Ebenezer, 40, the health centre owner, and another suspect, Hassan Oludunni, lured her into an arrangement and facilitated the sale of the baby to a third party, identified as Odunayo Folawewo. Police alleged the transaction involved ₦2 million, with Cecilia receiving ₦1 million, while Dr. Adeleke Ebenezer and Hassan Oludunni allegedly received ₦500,000 each. Officers also successfully rescued the one-month-old baby girl. Dr. Adeleke Ebenezer was arrested, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend Hassan Oludunni and Odunayo Folawewo and bring everyone allegedly involved to justice.
