Police in Palermo arrested an 18-year-old after finding more than 206 grams of hashish in his possession while he rode as a passenger on an electric bicycle driven by a minor. The arrest came during a control, followed by a search. Investigators seized two hashish bricks for a total of over 206 grams, two additional doses of the same drug, and 270 euros in cash, believed to be proceeds of illegal activity. The 18-year-old was arrested for possession for the purpose of dealing. The electric bicycle was seized for administrative confiscation and officers reported multiple violations of the Road Code, including driving without a licence, no insurance coverage, and not using a helmet. In a separate operation in Palermo’s Ballarò area, Carabinieri officers with E-Distribuzione technicians found irregularities connected to electricity use. Authorities identified seven illegal connections directly to the public power grid serving private homes and a commercial activity. Seven people were reported for theft of electricity. Further checks in Monreale led to another arrest. A 26-year-old was arrested after a drug dog operation led Carabinieri officers to a panettone of hashish weighing 100 grams, a dose of cocaine, a precision scale, and packaging materials. Police also seized 290 euros in cash and three SIM cards. The 26-year-old was reported, with the mother of the suspect also reported for furto aggravato di energia elettrica over an illegal power connection at the family home. Both cases involve seizures of drugs and other evidence, and the arrested men were placed in custody at home while awaiting judicial review.
