Police in Podgorica arrested a 42-year-old Turkish citizen suspected of buying, trafficking and selling drugs on the streets of the Montenegrin capital. Officers from the Criminal Police Unit for Combating Drugs, under the Podgorica Security Department, carried out a search at a home in the Zabjelo area where the suspect was staying. During the raid, police seized nearly two kilograms of narcotics and tablets intended for street sale. The haul included marihuana in multiple packages, weighing about 1 kilogram and 830 grams, around 50 grams of cocaine, and 238 tablets of “Lyrica”. Officers also found hand-rolled cigarettes, plastic bags with self-adhesive stickers used for packaging drugs, three scales for precise measuring, and other items and traces to be analysed in the investigation. Police said the suspect was with a 30-year-old Turkish citizen at the address. Both were taken to police premises, where officers gathered information about the incident. A drug test confirmed that the 30-year-old was positive for marihuana. The prosecution ordered the 42-year-old suspect to be detained on suspicion of the criminal offences of unauthorised production, possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs, in conjunction with enabling the use of narcotics. The police investigation continues.
