Poland police detain 60-year-old suspected plotter targeting Tusk and defence minister
The suspect was arrested in Lower Silesia as procedural steps continue.
Polish police have detained a 60-year-old suspect accused of planning an attack on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the country’s defence minister, Vladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The man was arrested in Lower Silesia, where investigators say he threatened Tusk and was linked to “highly radical groups”.
According to spokespersons cited in the reporting, the minister said the suspect was active in extremist groups and used hate speech while allegedly encouraging violence and hostility in public life. He added that the man made very radical contacts with different people online.
Police are carrying out procedural actions, including checking the suspect’s connections and his online activity. After that review, the relevant services are expected to take further decisions.
The Prime Minister publicly thanked police for “quick and decisive actions”. The defence minister also confirmed the detention, saying the person who took steps towards carrying out the attack was arrested.
The investigation is ongoing, with questioning and further actions expected as police continue their checks.
