Police arrest 48-year-old drug trafficking suspect in Spain
He was wanted by an EU arrest warrant as part of a drug supply network.
Spanish police arrested a 48-year-old man suspected of involvement in an international criminal group producing drugs and smuggling them from Spain to Poland. He had been avoiding responsibility for serious drug crimes, with Spain described as a safe haven, according to Polish police.
The suspect was tracked for nearly a year. Investigators from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Krakow worked to locate him, with support from an ENFAST contact point at the KGP Criminal Bureau.
Police said the international group was linked to drug manufacturing and the transport of drugs from Spain to Poland. The arrest followed an international search, with the man wanted under a European arrest warrant.
After being identified, he was detained by Spanish police. The case continues as the authorities move forward with the suspected network and the arrest warrant process.
