Police in Kotor arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of setting a Mercedes on fire after dousing it with a flammable liquid. The incident happened on 12 October around 00:25 in the Zlatne njive neighbourhood, outside the family home of the vehicle owner, F. M. Investigators say the suspect poured the flammable liquid over the car and then started the fire, causing material damage. Police said the suspect was identified after intensive police and prosecution activities coordinated with the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Kotor. Officers carried out searches at multiple locations, collected statements from more than one person, and took a series of operational and criminal investigative measures to establish the circumstances of the event, identify the suspect, and determine his movements after the fire. After the man was located, D. M. was detained on the order of the competent state prosecutor. The police said they will continue coordinated activities to clarify arson cases and other attacks on citizens’ property and to identify and prosecute those responsible.
