Poland police arrest 11 over suspected false compensation claims
Police secured over 2 million zlotys and say the group staged fake road accidents.
Polish police arrested 11 people and seized property worth more than 2 million zlotys in an operation against a group suspected of organizing fake road accidents to claim compensation.
Officers said the suspects were involved in an alleged scheme to manufacture “incidents” on the roads and then seek payouts through communication and vehicle insurance claims. Investigators said those actions could amount to up to 10 years in prison for involvement in the organization and the compensation fraud.
Police also said the arrests were linked to the procedure of “communication-related compensation fraud,” using the staged events to drive the claims.
The latest status of the case was not detailed in the announcement, but police said the suspects were detained and assets were secured as part of the investigation.
