Police identify 3 suspects who left e-scooters on Keila road
Investigators linked the acts near Paldiski maantee to alleged repeat reports over a month.
Police identified three young men suspected of deliberately leaving electric scooters on the roadway near Keila, forcing dangerous situations for other road users.
In late September, officers received a tip that an electric scooter was lying on the road near the Mudaaugu bus stop on Paldiski maantee. Over the following month, police recorded similar reports 10 times, including one case where a car hit a scooter but nobody was injured.
Menetlustalituse juhi Hisko Vares said police began gathering details with help from people in the area. The investigation was made harder because there were no surveillance cameras in the area and there were no direct witnesses known to police.
After extensive work, the alleged suspects were identified as three men aged 17, 18 and 24. Police said leaving scooters on the road on a stretch with a 70 km/h speed limit, especially in the dark, could lead to serious harm.
The case is being handled as a misdemeanour matter, and investigators will establish the exact circumstances.
