Police seized drugs in a multi-site operation across Bansko, Dobrinishte, Petrich region, Sandanski and Blagoevgrad, with officers targeting the storage and spread of narcotics. During checks, police found about 124 grams of amphetamine, about 0.19 grams of cocaine and about 67 grams of dried cannabis. On 16.10.2026, officers checked a 48-year-old man in the area of ul. “Ivan Vazov” in Dobrinishte, where they found about 10.23 grams of dried leafy material testing positive for cannabis. Investigators traced the drugs to a 36-year-old man in Bansko. In his home, they discovered an electronic scale with traces of cannabis, about 46.6 grams of dried cannabis and about 0.19 grams of cocaine. Later the same day, around 20:30, police stopped a Nissan Micra driven by a 31-year-old man in the area of ul. “Nayden Gerov” in Bansko. He allegedly tried to throw out a plastic bag with about 1.15 grams of cannabis through the car window. A personal search found an electronic scale with traces of cannabis, and a technical test for drug use gave a positive result. All three men were detained by police for up to 24 hours, and a pre-trial investigation was opened under the supervision of the Blagoevgrad district prosecution. On 18.10.2026, officers detained a 42-year-old man from the village of Klyuch after finding about 124 grams of narcotics at his home in the village. A field test reacted positive for amphetamine. On the same date, police also searched a house in the village of General Todorov, inhabited by a 37-year-old man from Blagoevgrad, where they found about 0.08 grams of cannabis. Criminal proceedings were opened and the case was referred to the competent prosecution. Also on 18.10.2026, police checked a home in Sandanski and found about 5.53 grams of dried cannabis and a metal grinder in a room of a 19-year-old man. He was detained and a pre-trial investigation opened. In Blagoevgrad’s Elenovo residential quarter, a 20-year-old man was detained after police found a small plastic bag with about 3.56 grams of dried cannabis. Police say work continues as inquiries proceed under prosecutorial oversight.
