Kyiv police arrested two young men suspected of distributing amphetamine through “checkpoints”, after officers found 106 small packets in Sviatoshyn district. Officers stopped two suspicious men during patrols and searched them during operational measures. One man had 10 packets with a white powder-like substance, while the other had 92 packets, bringing the total seized to 106. Investigators say the pair worked as a team. One allegedly hid the bundled drugs in predetermined places, while the other photographed the hiding spots and sent potential buyers the location information. When the police checked the areas named by the suspects, they found four more packets. The seized substances were sent for expert research to determine their exact composition, the type of psychotropic drug, and the mass for the legal assessment. The men were detained under Article 208 of Ukraine’s Criminal Procedure Code. Prosecutors informed them of suspicion under part 2 of Article 307 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, which covers illegal acquisition, storage for sale, and illegal distribution of psychotropic substances committed by a group acting by prior conspiracy. The charge carries a possible sentence of up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities also focusing on digital evidence such as messages, photos, and phone data used to reconstruct the distribution mechanism.
