Police arrested a man after officers seized 70 kilos and 80 grams of raw cannabis on Egnatia Odos, near the Dοdoni area in Ioannina. The arrest took place on 14/10/2026 at noon, during a coordinated operation by the Narcotics Division of the Patras Crime Investigation and Prosecution Subdivision. Officers tracked the accused as he travelled by a hired passenger car to a mountainous area of Thesprotia. On his return, they stopped and immobilised his vehicle on Egnatia Odos, at the Dοdoni point of Ioannina. During a search, police found and seized 63 homemade nylon-packaged bundles of raw cannabis from the luggage and the rear seats. The estimated financial benefit from the alleged trafficking of the seized drugs was up to €210,240. A case file was drawn up against the man for transporting and trafficking narcotics. He will be taken before the Public Prosecutor of First Instance in Ioannina, while the Narcotics Division of the Patras Crime Investigation and Prosecution Subdivision continues the investigation.
