Police shot one suspect after a violent robbery at a business premises in Rotterdam, where two people were beaten. The attack happened on Saturday afternoon at around 16:00 at a company on Berkenwoudestraat in Rotterdam. Several masked men entered the building and assaulted two victims. After the robbery, the suspects fled in one or more cars. Police were called and began searching for the men. During the subsequent police response, the suspects left their vehicles near Oldegaarde and tried to escape on foot. Officers fired warning shots, after which there was also targeted shooting. One suspect was hit by the gunfire. The injured man was still able to respond and was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he was arrested. A second suspect was also arrested at Oldegaarde. Both victims received medical help on scene and were taken care of by ambulance personnel. Police launched an investigation into the robbery and the involvement of the two detainees. The Rijksrecherche is investigating the shooting incident separately. The suspects are in custody as the investigations continue.
