Carabinieri arrested two brothers in Potenza on suspicion of drug dealing after finding nearly 2.9 kilograms of hashish in their home. The arrest took place in the city after officers from the Radiomobile of the Compagnia di Potenza spotted the younger brother on patrol in via Tirreno last week. The 35-year-old and 26-year-old were taken into custody during checks that led to an apartment search. Officers had already recognized the younger man as known for violations involving drugs. His behavior during the control prompted the carabinieri to extend the checks inside the residence shared with his older brother. A domiciliary search uncovered about 2.9 kg of hashish, split into 29 blocks, and around 84 grams of cocaine. Police also seized equipment suitable for cutting and precise weighing of the drugs, as well as 450 euros in cash in small banknotes, believed to be proceeds of illegal activity. The seized substances and related materials were secured and samples will be sent to the Laboratorio di Analisi Scientifiche di Potenza for lab testing. After formalities, carried out following instructions from the judicial authority, the two suspects were transferred to and held at the Casa Circondariale in the city. The GIP of the Tribunal of Potenza validated the arrests and ordered pre-trial custody in prison. The case is currently in the preliminary investigation phase.
