Queensland man extradited after 390kg methylamphetamine seizure
Police estimate the drugs’ street value at $32 million as charges proceed.
A 24-year-old Queensland man has been extradited to NSW and charged after police seized about 390kg of methylamphetamine worth an estimated $32 million.
NSW Police Organised Crime Squad detectives extradited the man to New South Wales as investigations continued into the seizure earlier this year.
Police say the man was arrested in Ipswich on Wednesday, October 7, then taken to Tweed Heads Police Station on Thursday night, October 8. He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 1 on Friday, October 9.
The case is linked to Strike Force Golporta, established to investigate allegations that a suspected onshore facilitator coordinated operations for an offshore syndicate. Detectives executed a search warrant at Emu Plains on April 28, 2026, with help from the Tactical Operations Unit.
At the property, specialist officers from the Drug and Firearms Squad’s Chemical Operations Unit and Technical Forensic Support Unit, along with Fire and Rescue NSW, processed the site. Investigators allege they found 39 large buckets and 140 boxes containing foam and other packaging material consistent with a drug extraction process.
Police later determined each bucket contained about 10kg of methylamphetamine, producing the total seizure of roughly 390kg. Investigators estimated its potential street value at $32 million.
The man has been charged with supplying a prohibited drug greater than a large commercial quantity and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity. Twelve other people have previously been charged in the investigation and remain before the courts.
The charges are allegations and the matter is ongoing, with the man awaiting his next appearance after extradition and formal charges.
