Relative of Prince Albert II found dead in Monaco garden
Police detained one person as the cause of death remains under investigation.
A 29-year-old relative of Prince Albert II was found dead in Monaco, with police launching an investigation after his body was discovered in a garden area.
Antoine de Massy was found on October 25 in the Larvotto district, behind “Villa Sauber,” near boulevard “Du Larvotto,” after he failed to appear for a family lunch.
Local reporting says police later reviewed camera footage from the area and detained one person on Monday morning, but it is unclear whether the detainee is being treated as a suspect or a witness.
The cause of death has not been announced. Investigators are working to clarify the circumstances and determine whether anyone else played a role.
The Prince’s Palace confirmed de Massy’s death on October 26 and said Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene were deeply saddened, offering condolences to his family and loved ones. De Massy is described as a grandson of Princess Antoinette and part of the extended princely family, with a long-standing connection to Monaco’s sporting life through tennis.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
