A resident is arrested for allegedly setting a fire in his own home in Assen, after firefighters were called for smoke late on Friday evening. Emergency services were alerted at 22.50 hours to a residence on Stelling due to smoke development. Police said the fire was started in the home by the resident. Police extinguished the flames, after which the fire service checked the property and ventilated it. Ambulance staff examined the resident, but transport to hospital was not needed. The police arrested the man for arson.
